The course introduces participants to the operational principles, compliance obligations, and workplace procedures that underpin safe and efficient loader operation. It is designed for individuals working in site‑based roles who must complete material‑handling, loading, lifting, and earthmoving tasks in accordance with legislative, regulatory, and organisational requirements.

What you will learn:

  • Operational Cycle: Master the complete loading process, from accessing documentation and conducting pre-start inspections to engine start-up, operation, shutdown, and site clean-up.
  • Safety Management: Identify workplace hazards and implement risk management, environmental controls, and traffic management plans to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Machine Operation: Develop practical competence in driving and manoeuvring tracked front end loaders, adapting techniques to suit changing ground and weather conditions.
  • Technical Knowledge: Access and interpret site documentation, including work instructions and operational procedures, while monitoring onboard systems and alarms to manage equipment performance.
  • Team Collaboration: Use workplace-approved communication protocols, including hand and audible signals, to coordinate effectively with other personnel and equipment operators on site.
  • Material Handling: Execute precise techniques for earthmoving, attaching, securing, lifting, and placing materials while strictly adhering to equipment load limits and operating capacities.
  • Routine Maintenance: Conduct vehicle inspections and troubleshooting to identify common equipment faults, manage refuelling requirements, and prepare the loader for relocation or transport via floats and trailers.

On successful completion, participants will be able to conduct tracked front end loader operations safely, consistently, and in line with industry expectations. They will demonstrate competence in equipment operation, hazard identification, routine operator maintenance, and effective communication, contributing to safe and productive work environments.
